Terms of Use

These conditions apply whenever you browse Rockingham County Criminal History, read its material, or use a search box. Continued use signals acceptance. If you disagree with any condition, do not continue using the site.

NO FCRA USE. Rockingham County Criminal History is privately operated and has no government affiliation. Neither it nor its advertising partners offers a service for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other decisions governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The resource helps readers locate criminal-record sources in Rockingham County and Virginia. It is neither a private investigation firm nor a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site, not part of Rockingham County, a court, the Sheriff, or Virginia government. It does not store official criminal records, conduct official checks, retrieve files, or submit documents for a visitor.

Its material identifies the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office, the shared criminal courts, and the Virginia Department of State Police. Virginia government disclosure is governed by laws that include the Virginia Freedom of Information Act and Va. Code Section 19.2-389; this private resource does not expand access beyond those laws.

2. Rules for Using This Site

By using the site, you agree not to:

  • Use any content for conduct that violates federal, Virginia, or local law
  • Threaten, stalk, intimidate, or harass another person
  • Use site content for hiring, housing, lending, insurance, or another FCRA-regulated decision
  • Attempt unauthorized access to a page, server, account, or system
  • Deploy a scraper, bot, or other automated collection tool
  • Interfere with site speed, availability, or another visitor's access

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

No site content or linked result may be used to stalk, threaten, harass, intimidate, or unlawfully discriminate against anyone. The restriction is especially important for the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry Public Notification Database. Va. Code Section 9.1-914 prohibits misuse of registry information and permits criminal penalties. The registry exists for public safety awareness, not retaliation, vigilante action, or unlawful exclusion.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Rockingham County Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and does not create credit reports, background checks, or consumer reports. Neither the site nor its advertising partners provides a service intended for an FCRA-regulated decision. Content from the site or a linked tool must not be used to:

  • Set insurance eligibility, coverage, or premiums
  • Evaluate a person for a job or continued employment
  • Assess a rental or other housing application
  • Determine creditworthiness, lending, or credit terms
  • Make any other decision regulated by the FCRA

A legally permissible official process must instead use the Virginia Department of State Police or a screening provider that complies with the FCRA and all other applicable law.

5. No Legal Advice

The material is general information, not legal advice. It cannot determine how a Rockingham County charge, warrant, conviction, expungement, or sealing rule applies to a specific person. Seek advice from a licensed Virginia attorney.

6. No Warranties

All material and functions are provided "as is." No guarantee is made that:

  • Information will always be complete, accurate, or current
  • Outside search results will be accurate, complete, or correctly matched
  • The pages will be free from bugs, errors, or security flaws
  • The site will remain available without delay or interruption

Charges, dispositions, sealing orders, and expungements can change what an official record shows. Delays and gaps are unavoidable. No page is an official statement by Rockingham County, a court, the Sheriff, or a Virginia agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links can lead to the Sheriff, Virginia courts, state agencies, legal organizations, or commercial search providers. Those destinations are outside this site's control. Rockingham County Criminal History is not responsible for their content, availability, prices, or data practices. Review the destination's terms before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Rockingham County Criminal History or its content partners own the site's text, graphics, logos, and code. No one may copy, alter, distribute, or make derivative works from that material without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the site is not liable for damages arising from its use, including reliance on content or information returned by a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold the site harmless from claims, actions, or demands caused by your use or violation of these terms, including related legal fees and costs.

11. Governing Law

Virginia law governs these terms. Any dispute connected to use of the site must be brought in a court located in Virginia.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be revised at any time. A revised version takes effect when it is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be restricted or terminated at any time, for any reason, and without advance notice.

14. Severability

If a court finds one provision invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue in effect. The affected language is adjusted only as far as needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these terms may be submitted through the Contact page.
